Established in 1911, M-TEC has developed into a market leader in the wire and cable industry and today the company is ranked as one of South Africa’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of Aluminium overhead conductors, copper products, low and medium voltage power cables and various optical fibre cables. Shareholders M-TEC is co-owned by, Community Investment Holdings and global partner, Taihan Cable and Solution, head quartered in South Korea. This partnership has made it possible for the company to expand and improve its operations to become a world class manufacturer. Aluminium Plant M-TEC have pioneered the production of, Aluminium products in South Africa starting local manufacturing in the early 70's and remains one of the largest producers of a variety of aluminium products such as wire, strip and overhead conductors namely ACSR, AAC and AAAC. M-TEC has been a supplier of Aluminium overhead conductors to Eskom - South Africa’s Electricity supply utility for over 4 decades and produces a substantial amount of conductor used as powerlines in the country. Copper plant The copper division has an extensive variety of products, Including bare copper earth wire, contact wire, copper stranded conductors, and copper strip. Products are manufactured to customer specification while ensuring compliance to national and international standards. M-TEC is a major supplier of copper contact wire and conductor to TRANSNET and PRASA – South Africa’s national rail transport utilities. Power Cable The progression of stranding technology, In copper and aluminium led to M-TEC's production of PVC cables in 1970. M-TEC today manufactures XLPE cables as well with subsequent extension to the product range. We are proud producers of Medium Voltage, Low Voltage and ABC cables, which is widely supplied to the local municipal authorities, electrical distributors, construction industries and mines both in South Africa and Internationally. Optical Fibre M-TEC became a major player in the supply of optical fibre cables, Following the establishment of its optical fibre plant in July 2001. M-TEC is currently a supplier of optical fibre cables to State Owned Entities in South Africa whilst Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria and Mozambique is M-TEC’s largest export destinations of optical fibre cable products. M- TEC optical fibres cable range includes aerial self-support cables, duct cables, direct buried cables, indoor cables and micro duct cables. The development of optical fibre market is guided through continuous investment in technology and the support of our international affiliates to bring to the market superior and exceptional optical fibre products. Die Shop and Maintenance Through in-house expertise in die making with over 30 000 dies available, Our Experienced maintenance divisions, M-TEC is able to maintain conformance to specification and prescribed standards.
